before anything, i'm using part of vine's css code, and who made it deserve all the rights to it, so the vine css was not made by me by any means and it's owned by Twitter Inc.(X Inc.)
why is this website better than the vine archive website?
- the vine archive current website (as of 2018-2019?) is very limited. you can only find posts if you specify a creator or a video. the main page is just a shut down page or something. here's why this website is better than the official current one:
- when you visit a creator's profile, only their display name will show up and their videos. incomplete, right? on grapper, you can view their profile picture, twitter handle, followers, how many videos they liked... all of that is available on the same api that the archive uses, they just chose to not make it appear, and i'm using this data.
- timestamps on posts on the vine archive wesbite do not even show the time that post was posted on, here it shows the exact time it was posted.
- it caches all of the posts accessed. in the home page, you can view random posts archived, and start exploring creators from that. you'll never be able to do that in the current vine site, they removed that.
- in the future, i pretend to add a page where you can search tags and view posts that have them
- it mixes vine's official css and bootstrap, so it still has that vine-y feeling attached to it
- and more importantly: it's up! the vine archive website's css and js CDNs are currently down, causing it to be unusable!
- there's also some stuff the vine website does better than this, but it will fixed at some point:
- this website doesn't recognize vine's range/tags/mentions json code, it should so mentions work just like they do on the vine archive, and in the future, tags should too
i'm from X Inc. and i want to take it down via DMCA request or something related. where can i contact you?
sure! you can contact me at [email protected], i'll try to respond it as fast as i can. but please fix the official website before doing this 🥺
can i talk with you about any other stuff tho?!
sure as well, please contact me on discord (gabrb) or by the email. i cant guarantee fast responses by the email, since i dont check it that often. im always online on discord when possible, and i cant guarantee i'll keep you on my friends list, mainly if you friend me and don't say anything after, i'll just remove you after a while.
i ask you to remove my content from this website!
unfortunately i have no control over vine archive's apis. i'm just scrapping data from them. i can try to blacklist your profile from being shown, but that's all i can do.
open-sourcing when?
no, sorry. i have no plans to open-source this. the code looks messy and it sucks overall. but i make it very clear on what i collect and what i don't on the question below this one.
i'm very sorry, i don't feel like open sourcing this is a great idea.
i'm worried about data collection!
please check out our privacy notice. we collect almost nothing, this site doesnt allow any type of sign ups, so all data is anonymous if collected.
